Spring Quarter 2019 (February 3rd to May 26th)

Here is a brief description of our Spring quarter class offerings.

The Gospel of Mark

Using Warren Wiersbe’s commentary, Mark – Be Diligent, Serving Others As You Walk With The Master Servant, we will learn that Christianity is not a passive faith. It is a dynamic, proactive way of life where God’s love motivates us to ministry, to help those in need, and to serve those around us. And no one better illustrates this lifestyle than our Savior.

In his book, 66 Love Letters “Love Letter Forty-One:  Mark”, Larry Crabb concludes, “Kingdom living consists of radical servanthood (the end of entitlement to personal comfort) and self-denying suffering with the hope of joy forever.”

Using these and other references, we will study what the Gospel of Mark said to the original Roman audience and is saying to us in 2019.  Taught by Bob Burgess in the center classroom, Room 103.

Trusting God (based on the classic Christian book by Jerry Bridges)

Why is it easier to obey God than to trust Him?
Because obeying God makes sense to us. In most cases, His laws appear reasonable and wise, and even when we don’t want to obey them, we usually concede that they are good for us. But the circumstances we find ourselves in often defy explanation. Before long, we begin to doubt God’s concern for us or His control over our lives. We ask, “Why is God allowing this?” or “What have I done wrong?”

During such a time of adversity, Jerry Bridges began a thorough Bible study on the topic of God’s sovereignty. What he learned changed his life, and in Trusting God he shares the fruit of that study. As you explore the scope of God’s power over nations, nature, and even the details of your life, you’ll find yourself trusting Him more completely—even when life hurts.

An expectation of this class will be reading the book.  It will amount to roughly fifteen pages a week.  There will be some copies available for purchase the first Sunday, price TBD.  Taught by Mark Gilzean, with a discussion, question and answer format.  Room 122.

YFF (Young Family Fellowship)

The YFF will continue their study in the book of Philippians.  This class meets in Room 144.
